09-28-2026 PART 2: Run Toward God, Not Away from Him

Section 1

Obedience sometimes means learning something we would never choose for ourselves. Dr. Dave openly admits his dislike for technology even though the ministry increasingly depends upon it, while Noelle humorously recognized that God may be requiring him to learn another completely different system. 09282026B The larger lesson is that believers do not have to understand why God places something before them before they obey Him. When confusion builds, Dr. Dave returns to Scripture and prayer because those are the places where his heart and mind become realigned. God’s Word brings everything back into perspective. The Christian journey will repeatedly include assignments, circumstances, and changes we would not personally select. Faith does not require understanding every detail beforehand; it requires knowing the One who leads us and remaining willing to follow wherever He directs.

Section 2

Cordelia’s praise report beautifully demonstrates how unexpectedly God can provide. After previously wanting a piano, she was stunned when an employer offered to give her one. The remaining obstacle was transportation, but after Cordelia and Joy prayed, the employer eventually located the proper mover and even paid the moving expense. 09282026B Dr. Dave connects her testimony with the biblical truth that every good and perfect gift ultimately comes from above. The proper response is not coveting someone else’s blessing or assuming God must give everyone the same thing. Instead, believers rejoice with one another and gratefully receive whatever God chooses to provide. Cordelia’s testimony also illustrates why sharing praise reports matters: hearing what God has done for someone else encourages the entire family of faith to recognize His goodness and celebrate together.

Section 3

The desire for a less rigid program ultimately points toward something much larger: creating more room to pursue God together. Dr. Dave emphasizes the promise that when believers draw near to God, He draws near to them. 09282026B Adam and Eve responded to failure by hiding, but Scripture continually teaches God’s children to move in the opposite direction. When circumstances become overwhelming, prayer becomes uncomfortable, or we fear what God might say, the answer is not withdrawal. We run toward the Father, through the Son, with the help of the Holy Spirit. Perfection is not the requirement; relationship is the priority. Everything earthly will eventually be left behind, but our relationship with God carries eternal significance. When life becomes bigger than you can handle, don’t run away from God—run harder toward the One who is bigger than everything you face.
