Section 1
A conversation with Dr. Dave’s brother Billy produced a simple framework for handling a world that can become confusing and chaotic: Christian DNA. The first letter, D, means draw closer to Christ daily. Nothing we accomplish—family, marriage, work, or personal success—is more important than consistently developing our relationship with Jesus. The N means never be ashamed of Jesus or His words. Scripture should not be reshaped whenever culture dislikes what it teaches or selectively borrowed merely to support an argument. 09292026B God’s Word remains the believer’s foundation. Christian DNA therefore begins with two commitments that continually realign everything else: pursuing Jesus personally and standing unashamedly with what He has spoken.
Section 2
The final letter brings faith directly into action: A means always be ready to serve. Dr. Dave emphasizes that life cannot revolve around pleasing ourselves or pursuing everything we believe we deserve. Instead, believers should present themselves to God each day and remain available for whatever assignment He places before them. 09292026B That makes Christian DNA remarkably practical. Drawing closer to Jesus changes our relationship with Him; refusing to be ashamed establishes our relationship with His truth; remaining ready to serve turns both into action. The Christian life is therefore not simply about possessing biblical knowledge or defending Christian beliefs. It involves availability. Each day becomes another opportunity to tell the Lord, in effect, “I belong to You. Use me however You choose.”
Section 3
Grace provides the power underneath that entire journey. From Christ’s fullness believers receive “grace upon grace,” reminding us that grace was never intended to be a one-time experience received only at salvation. It is God’s continuing generosity—bringing forgiveness over failure, strength over weakness, and hope over despair. 09292026B We do not earn God’s love; we live inside what He has graciously given. That truth should also reshape our attitude. Israel’s wilderness experience provides a warning about persistent grumbling, complaining, and failing to respond gratefully to God. Rather than living consumed by what is wrong, believers can continually approach God’s throne for fresh mercy and grace in every time of need. Christian DNA grows best in a heart that draws closer, stands unashamed, stays ready to serve, and never forgets that every step is sustained by grace upon grace.
